Westlands Primary School in Nairobi will soon be equipped with a computer lab to enable students embrace digital learning. This will boost e-learning and further improve the standard of education in the school. Westlands MP, Hon Tim Wanyonyi pledged to initiate projects that will ensure all public primary schools in his constituency compete favourably with their private counterparts. Speaking during the school’s prize giving day on Wednesday, October 28, 2015, Hon Wanyonyi urged parents, teachers and students to support the programmes initiated in the school.
Westlands Primary School Head Teacher Mr Fred Otieno hosted the ceremony which was attended by the School Management Committee and parents. Best performing pupils of the 2014 academic year were acknowledged. Both the teaching and non-teaching staff were also recognized for their contribution towards supporting the pupils’ academic and non-academic achievements. Speakers at the ceremony asked the institution to build on their track record of good performance.
During the 2014 KCPE Examinations, nine pupils managed to join National Schools. The school posted a mean of 314 marks in 2014 to be second to Hospital Hill Primary who posted a mean of 343 marks.
