The Westlands Constituency Member of Parliament Hon Tim Wanyonyi has this morning (Thursday, September 10, 2015) launched his 2013-2017 Strategic Plan aimed at providing servant leadership through participatory development in Westlands Constituency.
Westlands Uwezo Fund Vice Chairperson Mr Joseph Wanyonyi officiated the launch that was held at Muguga Green Primary School grounds in Westlands.
The Launch was attended by among others; the Kangemi Ward Member of County Assembly, Hon Peter Isuha; Karura Ward Member of County Assembly, Hon Kamau Thuo; the Highridge/Parklands Member of County Assembly, Hon Jaffer Kassam; the Nairobi Nominated Member of County Assembly, Ms Petronila Nafula; the Chairman Westlands Business Association, Mr Shirish Shah; the Toyota Kenya Westlands Branch Manager, Ms Tandlyn Lubanga; the KCB Gigiri Branch Manager, Mr Gregory Siro ;the Equity Bank Kangemi Branch Manager, Ms Catherine Mwangi ; the Nairobi School Principal Mr Mulinge ; the Westlands Sub-County Education Officer, Mr Mburu Kimando; the Parklands tac-tutor Ms Grace Owinga; the Westlands Youth Enterprise Fund Officer, Mr Ken Otinga; the Westlands Women Enterprise Fund Officer, Ms Anne Ngure; the Runda Association Chairman, Mr Isaack Gitoho; and the general public.
The plan, whose theme is "Providing Servant Leadership for Participatory Development" outlines the MP's development agenda in Westlands Constituency. The strategic Plan also includes development achievements under Hon Wanyonyi's leadership, as well as flagship projects to be undertaken between now and 2017.
Speaking at the event, Hon Wanyonyi said the strategic plan would greatly help in defining the key action plans to achieve his vision and mission for the constituency.
“We are very confident that we will achieve what we have set out to do, with the support of our co-operating partners and other stakeholders,” he said.
“The Strategic Plan gives a clear indication of the issues Westlands people want the Constituency to act on as a priority, and by listening to the views of the local communities, it can provide a valuable service to my constituents, and I hope for every success in meeting its objectives.”
The Strategic Plan is the result of the MP’s efforts to gain a comprehensive understanding of the area, and will form the basis of its action over the next two years.
Kangemi MCA Hon Peter Isuha said that the overall success of the strategic plan will largely depend on the support and collaboration of all stakeholders including the Member of Parliament, the Governor as well as the Members of the County Assembly.
He went on to commend the MP for his participatory approach on development matters in the Constituency. Highridge MCA Hon Jaffer Kassam praised the MP for his passion in improving the education standards in the constituency. He further said that the Westlands MP has made history as the first ever MP to launch a strategic plan for the constituency. He said that this will ultimately contribute to heightened sectorial development.
Karura Ward MCA Hon Kamau Thuo called upon the Westlands constituents to own the document prepared by the Member of Parliament. He added that the clearly defined roles of the national government as well as that of the county government provide a ripe front for partnerships for structured and impactful initiatives.
